Here's what the humans have to say about me:
What an adorable young Dachshund mix who needs a forever home! Otis' start in life was rough as he was dumped out in the country with a significant umbilical hernia. His finder/rescuer, who is also owner of the property, had him neutered and the hernia repaired and nursed him back to health before contacting DREAM for our help in finding Otis a loving forever home. He is 1 year old, looks like a piebald wirehaired Dachshund with maybe a little Beagle mixed in and is fit at 28 pounds. He's good with cats and dogs, shows no food aggression and is friendly with all humans he's met, including children. He uses the dog door to go potty but if you don't have a dog door, he should be taken out routinely. He loves his walks and is being trained to not pull and with click/treat to not get too excited when he sees other dogs, as he really wants to play. His foster mom and sister are home all day and he appreciates being with his people. He isn't fond of too much time in a crate. What young active dog is???? He is not crated in his foster home as his foster people are there with him.
Otis' finder/rescuer had multiple cats and dogs and his foster has several active dogs. Because Otis is so young and playful, we believe he will thrive with an active person/family who can give him lots of attention. Since he's great with other dogs of different sizes, an active doggie playmate would be appreciated. His finder/rescuer made a video of Otis that you just have to see to appreciate his cuteness!!!!
