Hi, my name is Chance, and I am a 9-year-old male American Bulldog originally from Florida. I once had a lovely home and loving family, but sadly, they surrendered me to the shelter where I waited for them to return. They never did return so I sat in my kennel for months hoping someone would fall in love with my sweet face and loving personality.
Then Hurricane Ida pummeled through my home state, leaving so many pets displaced with nowhere to go. With so many people surrendering their animals during this desperate time, the shelter was at capacity, which put my name on a euthanasia list. Knowing very well that I deserved a second chance, the shelter staff reached out to CDA who gladly took me and several other dogs on the euthanasia list under their wing just in time.
I am now in New Jersey adjusting to my new environment. I really miss being part of a family, so I am looking for my second chance at happiness. Everyone who meets me says I am a gem, and that any family would be lucky to have me. I am looking for a family that will happily take me on walks so I can exercise and stay healthy. I am also looking for a family that will continue with my training in order to ensure I am the best boy I can be. My ideal family will spend time doting on me as the only fur baby of the home, playing and snuggling with me.
Will you give me a second chance?

First, we have a chat with the potential adopter to see if they are eligible to fill out an adoption application.
2.
Submit Application
After we have a chat, if we feel like the adopter shows promise, we offer them an adoption application.
3.
Home Check
If their application gets approved, we conduct another video call where we do a home walk-through.
4.
Approve Application
If all goes well, then we will proceed with approving the application.
Additional adoption info
We conduct our interviews in video form so that we can gain a better idea of whether or not the applicant is eligible for consideration in adopting one of our rescue animals. If we feel that the person may be a good fit, we will do a meet and greet with the rescue they are interested in adopting,
