Jasper loves his people and is very loyal. However, he is shy at first meeting. His lack of confidence could be a problem if he is not trained properly as he develops.

Jasper loves to play with his toys and his foster canine sibling. Jasper regularity visits a barn and does well with horses. He would love a big country setting if possible, as he seems to flourish in the outdoors. Jasper is great with kids, especially babies. He will gently sit with them.

Jasper is a bundle of love and has a lot of potential in the right family. Once he feels safe with you, he enjoys giving kisses and will cuddle up to you as close as possible. He is oh so loving and such a great puppy. Jasper has not been nippy or very destructive yet, though that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any puppy antics! Jasper’s adopters must be prepared for all that entails with raising a puppy and have the time to work on his training as he progresses with being housebroken, crate trained and learns to walk on leash. He would do best in a household where someone is usually home most of the day while he learns to be okay with being left alone.

As he continues to come out of his shell, Jasper shows more of his sweet and loving personality. He is even playing with the resident pup in his foster home. It seems he was pretty timid at first as his siblings were picking on him when he was initially rescued and he was very shut down. Jasper will need adopters that are comfortable working with him to continue building his confidence. He is not always comfortable outdoors beyond the backyard, preferring to stay close to his person. Jasper and his adopter MUST work with a professional trainer to help build his confidence.

Jasper would do well as both the only pet in the household or with other well-balanced dogs that won’t overwhelm him and can help show him the ropes. Jasper is good with other dogs but can be timid of some when he first meets them. Though he will usually warm up if given a couple minutes. Once he has met a dog though, he’ll be very comfortable with them the next time he sees them. Jasper loves his backyard time for playing and it is where he is most confident outdoors at the moment. So a home with a backyard for him to enjoy and play in is a must, or even a farm as Jasper enjoys visiting the barn and his foster mom’s horse.

Jasper will truly shine in the right forever home. We are looking for a home with prior experience, especially Doberman experience, that has the time and energy to put into helping him grow into the best dog he can be!

Jasper is looking for a foster-to-adopt home, where he will be fostered with the commitment to adopt, until his neuter and puppy vaccines are completed. Once he is cleared medically, then he can be officially adopted by his foster-to-adopt family! We are looking for a FTA home that will commit to taking Jasper to his vet appointments for his vaccines, deworming and spay.

If Jasper sounds like the little spark you need to truly light up your life, please fill out a Canine Adoption Application on our website: covetedcanines.org/application
