My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Donatello is a striking 7-month-old dog weighing approximately 60 pounds. His sleek, black coat gleams under the sunlight, while his intelligence shines through in his quick grasp of commands. In addition to being a genius, Donatello has a playful, derpy personality that never fails to bring a smile to faces. His goofiness adds charm to his personality, making him endearingly clumsy at times. Donatello is an active pup who would relish the opportunity to romp on the beach, chasing waves and playing in the sand. His friendly nature and love for interaction make him a great companion for large, playful canine buddies. This Labrador and Pit Bull Terrier mix is ready to embark on new adventures and create cherished memories with his human family. Donatello is crate and potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $275 and you can apply to bring him home at www.rescueofhope.com/adopt/

Additional adoption info

1. The first step is completing our application at www.rescueofhope.com.

2. If your application is approved, you will be contacted to schedule a home visit interview. We will bring the dog over for a visit and conduct and interview with you.

3. Then we will both take a day to consider whether it is the right home for the dog.

4. If everyone is in agreement, the adoption will take place and you will sign an adoption contract and commit to giving our rescue dog a forever home.

We are a non-profit organization. Our adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and they range from $150-$350. Our fees help us cover our dog's vet care, food, supplies and other expenses to keep the rescue running. All dogs must be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, tested for heartworms, vaccinated and wormed as appropriate for age and checked for fleas prior to or within 30 days of adoption.

Note: There are no refunds on adoption fees. Adoption fees are considered a donation to the rescue and are tax decuctible.

More about this rescue

Hearts of Hope's mission is to save homeless unwanted dogs. Pet overpopulation is a global crisis. Our local animal shelters are full of wonderful dogs that just need more time and help finding the right home. Many of our dogs come from these local kill shelters and others come from urgent rescue situations spanning as far as Beirut, Lebanon. Hearts of Hope strives to help as many dogs as possible. If we are able, we will help. We know we can't save them all, but it matters to the ones we can save.

Hearts of Hope Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue located in Grand Rapids, MI and Midland,MI. It was founded by Director, Janelle McFarlane November 23, 2011. Our rescue dogs are provided with the best possible vet care, a safe place to stay and the love they deserve. We do not have a shelter facility. Our volunteer foster homes take these wonderful dogs into their homes until we find their forever families. Our organization is devoted to helping dogs in need and works diligently to find them loving forever homes where they can happily live out the rest of their lives.
