My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly's story is a testament to resilience. This year-and-a-half-old American pit bull terrier mix, with her striking blue and white coat, found herself and her nine puppies in a city shelter. It was a challenging start, but thanks to The Four Legged Ranch, Dolly and her puppies were rescued, allowing her to show just how attentive and caring she could be. Dolly was a devoted mother, and her puppies thrived and found their way to forever homes.

Currently living in a foster home with three large male dogs, Dolly has demonstrated an incredible ability to adapt and fit in. She's quickly picked up on the household's routine, showing both her intelligence and her eagerness to be part of a family. Dolly is a dog who loves to be at the heart of everything, whether that's playing with her foster siblings or snuggling up with them or human companions. At her young age, she's still full of puppy energy and learning how to channel this under the guidance of her foster brothers.

Food is a big motivator for Dolly, and it's something that helps in her training and day-to-day interactions. She's keen to please and learns quickly, especially when treats are involved. Dolly's observant nature means she's always watching and learning, ready to be involved in whatever's happening around her.

Nighttime finds Dolly content to go to her kennel, where she sleeps quietly through the night, recharging for another day of adventures and learning. Her balanced demeanor and readiness to please make her an ideal candidate for a family pet. She loves her toys, particularly her heavy-duty Kong and Benebones, and she often carries her blanket around, ensuring she has a soft spot to land when she's ready to rest. Sharing isn't a problem for Dolly; she's happy to let her foster brothers join in on her play, though she's still learning not to sneak food from their bowls.

Walking on a leash is something Dolly is still mastering, as her excitement can sometimes get the better of her. However, she's making progress, already responding well to commands like "sit," "off," "no," and "bed," and she's working on "place." Fully house-trained, Dolly knows how to use a doggie door, though she sometimes prefers to wait for someone to open the door for her, showing her polite and patient side.

While Dolly could certainly adjust to being the only pet, it seems she would thrive in a home with at least one other active dog. Her journey from the city shelter to the prospect of a forever home is one filled with love, learning, and the promise of new beginnings. Dolly is ready to find her place in the world, bringing joy, energy, and a lot of heart to the lucky family that chooses to make her part of their lives.
