My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Notwithstanding the cruelty and neglect Bonnie endured, she is still the sweetest dog who appreciates every kindness she is shown. When we saw her original picture from the shelter it was one of the worst pictures of starvation we had ever seen.Bonnie had originally been adopted out from this shelter in 2018 when she was about one year old and a healthy 55 pounds. Five years later, this October, Bonnie was found tied to a post in a remote area. She was taken to the same shelter but was unrecognizable. She had lost almost half of her body weight. Her microchip traced her to the same shelter. Her original owner was contacted, and he told the shelter staff that he had given her away years ago. The shelter felt he was being truthful as he sounded horrified to hear what had happened to her. He told them she was a wonderful and sweet dog, but he had come on hard times and could not keep her. Bonnie just wants to be loved and give love. She is an extraordinary testament to the nature of dogs! During her stay at the shelter, she loved visits from the shelter staff, and they told us that you could see the happiness on her face if anyone stopped to pet her. She never had an accident inside the shelter. Bonnie has been staying at our vets to monitor her weight gain and has gained several pounds. We are expecting her to go to a foster home soon.
