Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Despite her name, 2-year-old Xena is the most serene, calm, gentle dog you can imagine. She is a new arrival from The Human Society of Grand Bahama, and is a 52-pound Bahamian Potcake.
What is a potcake, you may ask? A potcake is a Bahamian dog, 40-60 pounds, with short hair, a terrier snout, and a hound frame. Potcakes are smart, train easily, love people, and are dog-friendly.
As you can see by her photo, Xena is a beautiful white and brindle. True to her breed, she is very bright and both dog and people friendly. Because her frame is more slight, she is less powerful than a Boxer or a Pit Bull Terrier.
What makes Xena a warrior is the spirit she has shown through her journey. We brought Xena to the U.S. for a family with special needs. But through no one’s fault, including Xena’s, the adoption did not work out. Through her trip through ground and air she remained composed, and once in this country she has already won the hearts of all of those who have taken care of her.
The ideal home for Xena would be with a loving family who has time to spend with her and enjoy her. She is a very relaxed and calm; she does well in her crate, although it is not particularly necessary. She does tend to attach to one person and become a bit possessive, but a mild correction is all that is needed. A home with children and/or with other dogs, as well as a home with only adults, would be fine. All that is required is the taking the time to spend with this remarkable dog.
