My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Minx...or Minxy as we sometimes call her in an excited voice, which she loves...is the SWEETEST pup with so much love to give. Our best guess is that she's an Aussie/Lab mix. Minx has a gorgeous chocolate coat and stunning golden eyes.

Minx is very shy and timid around new people and new situations. We are working on building her confidence in meeting new people and going to new places - she will need her forever family to continue working on socializing her. However, once she gets comfortable, she totally comes out of her shell and is a typical happy, wiggly puppy who loves to play with other dogs and cuddle up next to her humans.

Minx spends her days playing with her foster siblings, chewing on bones, playing with toys, taking naps, going on walks, finding sticks in the yard, car rides, and cuddling up on the couch for a show. She really enjoys going to sniff spots so would love a fenced in yard to run around in, but she is also used to being let out on a leash/long lead at our house.

Minx is potty trained and crate trained and sleeps all night (8-9 hours) in her crate. We also think she would do just fine sleeping in bed with her forever family if that's more your style - we just don't have enough room in our bed currently or she'd join us! :) She will sometimes bark/whine for a few minutes when she goes in her crate, but she settles down very quickly. She sleeps with a snuggle puppy that has a pretend heartbeat - we think it helps her feel safe and secure.

Minx is still a teenage puppy and working on learning to not jump when she wants attention and learning to sit for her pets. Speaking of learning, she's very smart and a quick learner. She recently started a training class for shy puppies and mastered the "touch command in a matter of minutes. She loves to do this trick now because she knows she gets a yummy treat.

One training need that her forever family will need to be willing to keep working on is resource guarding of her humans. She occasionally displays some resource guarding of her foster mom and dad when she's getting solo attention and one of her foster dog siblings comes near us. She is not mean, but gives the other dog a stare and quick air snip to let them know she doesn't want to share her person. She only seems to do it with dogs bigger than her so it may be dog selective. We are working with her on this with a trainer and have had some success with giving her lots of pets/praise when another dog comes near and/or walking away, but this training is a work in progress and she will need someone willing to keep working on this with her, especially if she has other dog siblings. Speaking of which, she would love a dog sibling to play with and continue to learn how to be a confident dog, but she would also probably be just fine as an only dog too since she loves having her human's attention. :)

Minx came into rescue without a foster and was terrified. She stole our hearts in an intake video with how scared she was and we quickly headed over to the rescue to take her home. She is truly such a sweet and loving dog with a great temperament. We know her forever family is going to fall in love with her just as we did. Our Minxy girl can't wait to find out who her family will be. Is it you?

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
