My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Millie! I weigh 18 lbs and I am 11 months old (11/17/23). I am the best companion ever! I love being with people and I am happy to sit in a lap or just follow my foster around the house. I like to see everything that my foster is doing and I am very responsive to being spoken to. Sometimes I look like I am really listening to what you are telling me as if we are having a conversation. I am good about coming when called and staying with you outside off leash. I don't get underfoot - my foster is in a power wheelchair and I know how to stay out of the way. I get along well with dogs of all ages. I love playing with them and also with toys. I'm not sure about cats because the rescue doesn't have any. I am unsure of young children because I have never been around any. I'm sure that I would learn to love them and enjoy them if given a little time to get used to them. Currently I just avoid them. (I was previously owned by an older, single man who dropped me off at a gas station when he was evicted). I'm well behaved in the house- I don't get on the furniture, get in the trash, or try to counter surf. I do however sleep snuggled up against my foster in her bed. I am house trained if taken out regularly but I do not ask to go out. I have a medium energy level but I will need daily exercise. I bark at strangers, but it doesn't take me long to warm up to them. I also bark when I'm outside in the fenced yard and see a strange person or dog go by. I am very, very smart and I am a quick learner. I am ready and waiting to go to my new forever home- belly rubs are a must!

A second video is available on our rescue website.

I am spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on my rabies and dhpp vaccines. My veterinarian records will accompany me. My foster's phone number will be provided once an application is approved so that you can learn more about me before making an adoption decision..

Email is the best method of contact. Applications can be found on the rescue website carolinacaninerescuenc.com
