My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pepe!

He’s a wonderful dog whose people have run into some health challenges plus a job change, which forced them to send him to a shelter. Because he needs a good new home right away, we’re stepping in to help.

Pepe is a 1-1/2 year-old Lab/Shepherd mix weighing 60 lbs. He loves people and other dogs, and has never had any issues with either. He’s an excited greeter and he really enjoys kids, but because he's tall and still working on some jumpiness when he's excited, he'd do best with older kids for now. He'll also need slow intros with fearful or reactive dogs, but he'd really love another friendly dog in the household to play with.

His ideal home would be with either a couple or family -- and if one of the adults works from home, all the better! His people say a one-person household would be tough for this interactive and curious boy. He loves being part of what people are doing, especially if they're doing adventuring outdoors!

His people have worked with a trainer in Colorado Springs, so Pepe knows his basic cues: sit, down, stay, wait, “with me” for heel/loose leash walking, watch me, leave it, drop it, etc. He’s also been training on impulse control.

Pepe has puppy energy but he’s a sweet, active, eager-to-learn dude. He’s an energetic boy who needs an enclosed backyard or large property to run around in and explore, and adopters who have an active lifestyle.

He enjoys squeaky toys, going for walks and hikes, playing fetch, and learning and interacting with people.

He’s a real cuddle bug who likes to sleep in the bed, although he’s also crate-trained.

Once Pepe is adopted, his adopters are welcome to contact Summit Dog Rescue. We can offer training support and a harness for him.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who can help this great dog. Thanks.
