My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE 4/24: Poor Seymour has been waiting since November and had no adoption interest:( Kennels can be a stressful environment: we do everything possible to keep them happy during their stay with us and out of their kennels as much as possible, but for some dogs like Seymour it's not enough. Our sweet boy has become more stressed and anxious, unable to keep weight on and is urgently looking to get into the right home environment ASAP so he can relax and decompress. If you have no other pets please consider opening your home to sweet senior Seymour

Meet Seymour!
This friendly middle-aged/young senior boy was brought to a local crowded shelter in rough shape- covered in sores and itchy skin infections, clearly neglected for a while. Despite his past treatment he's a happy kissy friendly guy who greets everyone by trying to climb into their lap and kiss them- apparently no one told him 50lbs is too big to be a lap dog! He loves his walks and car rides, playing with toys, and is hoping to find a single pet adult home very soon. Please submit an application to meet him

More about this shelter

Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is founded on the belief that all animals have a natural right to humane treatment including proper care and safe shelter. Due to overpopulation, there are insufficient homes for most cats and dogs. Some are lucky enough to find temporary shelter and a few even find permanent homes. However it is a devastating fact that the majority are either euthanized or forced to chance life without shelter.

To support our belief and to relieve the unnecessary suffering of animals, we shall:
1.Extend every effort to find, evaluate, and secure good adoptive homes for animals in our care.
2.Provide animals with medical services and behavior therapy to the extent of our ability.
3.Adhere to a “no-kill” policy: animals shall not be euthanized for the purpose of providing space for new animals.
4.Adhere to a 100% spay and neuter policy.
5.Maintain continuing humane education programs and in particular to schools.
