Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Monkey came to the shelter from a vet clinic that had saved his life- he and his siblings had gotten into his previous owner's meth. Unfortunately, only Monkey survived. Once he was clean and sober, he was adopted, but unfortunately was recently returned. Monkey does not do well with chickens and other small animals that run away 😬 His adopters could not keep him after he ate some chickens that were family pets. Monkey also seems to think he can bully dogs smaller than himself. Since he is only 6 months old, this may be able to be trained out of him with time and neutering.
Monkey is great with children and dogs larger than himself. He has not shown interest in the cats at the shelter, and there was previously a cat on the farm he was living on who he did not harm. So long as you're human, or bigger than him, Monkey is a love bug and very gentle. He is a chunky little ham who likes to cuddle and sit in laps, just as much as he likes to play tug-of-war with his toys. If Monkey sounds like a good fit for your family (and you don't own small animals!), please make an appointment to meet him. Please also bring any existing family dogs in to meet this boy, just to be sure everyone gets along.
An appointment can be made by sending us a message on our shelter's facebook page.
