My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Squeak's rescue story: Squeak was abandoned on a church doorstep at 3 weeks old. She had been placed in a box with her mother and 2 siblings (Taffy and Cream Puff) and the box was taped shut. After a day or so, someone from the church looked in the box and was surprised to see this sweet little family looking up at her. Squeak isn't black, but her mama is and we never leave anyone behind! Squeak deserves a chance to be in a loving home.

Squeak, a.k.a. Squeaks McGeeks, got her name because when she was a very little kitten, she'd SQUEAK instead of meow every time she was picked up! She is a super-friendly purring machine - the first in her litter to purr! - who will always be excited to see you and have A LOT to say about it! She is chatty and outgoing, and loves to burrow into laps, flop over shoulders while being held, launch herself into the air to catch a feather toy and somersault when she lands. She seems interested in other cats, and seems like she would do well with another cat friend. But what she really wants is a home — and a human — to call her own. Her mama, brother, and sister have all gone to their furever homes - will you welcome Squeak into yours?

Black cats are half as likely as other cats to be adopted from shelters.

Black cats are considered bad luck because of ignorance and superstition.

Black cats are often passed over because they don't photograph well, but they are beautiful in person

Having black fur is a death sentence for most black cats

Black cats are just as lovable and deserving of homes and families as all other cats
