Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Quill is looking for Rescue or an experienced home!
This poor boy had been very hungry for a very long time, abandoned outdoors near the highway. He unfortunately tried to make a meal out of a skunk, and a porcupine 😬 Our vet removed the quills, and he is medicated while he heals here at the shelter.
Unfortunately, both life and humans, have not been very kind to Quill. He is very scared in the shelter, and sometimes cowers when approached. He is not aggressive, but very frightened. Our volunteer (the photographer!) was able to get him to relax with lots of time, gentle voice and soft pets, but said for the first 15 minutes, Quill just shook.
Any adopter would need to be experienced with fearful dogs who are still learning to trust humans. Other dogs who are gentle may be ok, but he runs from barking. Young children may be too much for him, and it would be best any small family members meet him at the shelter before he went home. It will take a lot of patience, but he has been SO sweet once he trusts 🥺 He has also shown no interest in cats at the shelter!
If you'd like to meet Quill and help him learn to trust humans, please send us a message on our facebook page to make an appointment!
