My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

⭐️⭐️ It's Max's time to shine! ⭐️⭐️

Max's recovery has been exceptionally long but his vet is confident he's ready to find his happily ever after! ❤️

Max came into the Central Texas Lost and Found Pets family last December after being hit by a car. He sustained a broken pelvis and a broken leg. 😔 Sadly, he had an owner who said he wasn't a "quality dog" so wouldn't provide him vet care but thankfully did relinquish him. If all that isn't sad enough, what should have been a fairly quick recovery turned into a nightmare when he developed a bone infection around the pin in his leg. He needed major antibiotics for months, got ozone bathes & hyperbaric oxygen therapy, lots & lots of crate rest, and special meals when he didn’t feel like eating. He was a sad boy for months but always very sweet, affectionate and never once lashed out in pain. ❤️‍🩹

Now, Max is finally ready to find a loving family who understands he may walk with a limp or hold his leg up occasionally. Arthritis is possible in the future but that can be managed with a little pain medication. He needs a family that will spoil him because he's developed quite the refined tastebuds after months of losing his appetite. His nickname is Gordon Ramsey! 😆 We also give Max supplements to support joint, bone and overall health which seem to help him feel better. 😍

Max is also heartworm positive but being treated with slow kill since he had such extensive injuries. He'll need to be rechecked in December. Slow kill is an effective treatment protocol when fast kill isn't possible that just takes a little longer.

Max is about 3.5 to 4 years old, 30 lbs, is incredibly affectionate and loves to "hug" my leg to get me to stop and pet him. He's a social butterfly who adores people and other dogs. He's chased the cat a few times so maybe a home without cats is best but he listens well to "leave it" and wants to please. Car rides are THE BEST! Max gets SUPER excited to go anywhere. Can you blame him though after months of crate rest? Max really just wants to be part of a family and we're gonna try hard to find that for him.
