More about this rescue

OUR HISTORY
In 2010, Eileen Gideon’s family gave her the gift of an adorable bloodhound puppy for her birthday. She named him Jethro. when Jethro had his first vet appointment, Eileen discovered that he had some hereditary issues that indicated that he had likely come from a puppy mill. Jethro, it turned out, like many puppies, had come from a pet store that purchased their puppies from an Amish puppy mill. This discovery led Eileen to begin researching about puppy mills, breeders, and the overwhelming number of pets in shelters and rescues in need of homes.

This lead her to want to help, and the more she learned the more she realized she needed to become actively involved. So Eileen founded Uniting 2 Save Animals, a 501(3)c organization dedicated to decreasing the number of unwanted, homeless pets in our area.

Jethro’s Happy Hounds Haven, a division of Uniting 2 Save Animals, was formed in 2022 in memory of Jethro, to provide a safe haven for dogs who in turn provide a safe haven for our heroes. The love of a dog can bring miracles to life. And it all starts by saving one dog. And then letting that dog save you.

We don’t just save animals – we save the animals so the animals can save people. Our therapy dog program provides certified therapy and companion dogs for veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other disorders. We know not every rescue dog is a fit as a therapy dog, so while all dogs receive the same training, we also have dogs available for general adoption.
