My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Lacey. When we first took them into rescue, the sisters looked nothing like each other, but after getting the DNA results, we know why. Seriously... Border Collie / Malinois? Surprisingly, they are not as high energy as their breed mix would indicate. Lacey is just over 5 months old and about 20#. We think she will be in the 40-50# range when fully grown. She's lean and tall and her ears all kinds of flip and flop. :) Lacey is so funny - sensitive at times and a silly wrecking ball with her foster dog siblings. She runs, plays, jumps in your lap.

In her new home she will need some confidence building at first. When Lacey came to foster, she did the excited / submissive urination thing, not uncommon in puppies. Her foster mom has lots of experience with this and has tricks to keep Lacey calm and potty outside.

Because she loves to play with her the foster dogs, we think another friendly dog in the home is a must. Lacey has met the resident foster cats with no issues. The cats are pretty dog savvy - so they have no problem correcting Lacey if she gets too rambunctious. She's got crate training down, sleeps through the night and is working on house breaking. She is pretty smart. Her ideal home is an active one, taking her on walks and hikes. A fenced yard and active breed dog experience is a plus!

This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Lacey was recently enrolled with Pet Insurance. She cleared her orthopedic exam and is fully covered. We will provide her adopter with how to transfer the policy.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption.

Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. This puppy is ready for it's forever home!

Adoption fee is $375 + $100 refundable training deposit. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
