Foster cat's bio for their adoption profile: Zee is a retired street mama. She has frost-nipped ear tips and is missing some teeth. She was very scared when she was rescued and let her foster know who was boss with spit-hisses and swats, but she has made so much progress since November 1st. She now meows to communicate instead of spit-hissing and rarely swats. She does still have a bit of her street attitude, so will require a very special adopter who is patient and understanding with her. She is content to eat and sleep and play independently. She spends the majority of each day napping nearby her fosters work desk and making eyes to beg for snacks. She loves food so must have measured meals or she will eat until whatever is available is all gone.
She has met the resident cats in her foster home and tolerates them with mild interest. She might enjoy a feline companion.

Any special needs or traits the adopter should know about? (we may add this to the bio): Zee is still nervous to be touched. She enjoys some pets, but sometimes still swats when she is nervous, especially if you reach towards her head/face. She is most open to pets when food is involved to distract her. She is gradually learning that pets feel good and she also enjoys some brushing. She was quite aggressive about demanding food but now mostly meows. Her foster has used verbal and hand cues to help her learn better behaviour.

More about this rescue

Since 1996 SCAT Street Cat Rescue's prime focus has been feral cats because of the limited options available for them. TNR is a successful option instead of the traditional trap and kill. The majority of the cats rescued by SCAT, however, are socialized and available for adoption. As the city grows, so to does the need for our services. Adopt, Donate, Volunteer, TODAY!
