My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pete is a 2.5 year old male

Must be an only dog

Meet Pete! Isn't he a hunk!?!?!?!
Pete came to us from the Riverside shelter. He has been with us since just before Thanksgiving and we have gotten to know a lot about him.

Pete is a tender hearted guy who just wants to snuggle and love his humans. He is very affectionate with people he knows, but it's obvious he's had his heart broken in his past, so he is very guarded with his heart. He needs humans who are patient and let him love you slowly (we're talking probably within an hour, not just during a 20 minute meet and greet)

He takes a little bit of time to get comfortable with new people and dogs. He is currently fostered with a lot of dogs. He co-exists with them just fine and is relatively indifferent to them...but he seems to be having some problems being indifferent on his meet and greets, when it comes to other dogs. It's as if he suddenly gets nervous, so going slow and doing everything right is a must!

He needs a home with no other dogs.

He is definitely potty trained and very well mannered. He will definitely be on Santa's nice list. He is crate trained, but he is so good that his foster mom doesn't crate him.

He does great with kids but due to his behavior around other dogs, we are not comfortable placing him with kids at this time.

He really wants to be home for the holidays. Is that your home? If so, please fill out an app and set up a meet and greet. He would make a great apartment dog. As he is not a barker!

More about this rescue

R&R Boxer Rescue is an all-volunteer 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to providing a life line to dogs at imminent risk of euthanasia at one of our many high kill shelters here in Southern California. These are the seniors, the special medical needs and those that the shelter has deemed rescue only for “behavior.” These dogs were failed by humans on at least one level and deserve a chance to be the dog they were born to be.

As the name suggests, we are primarily a Boxer rescue, but not exclusively. Our mission is simple in words, helping once forgotten dogs complete a family of their own.
