My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Pillsbury Doughboy, the 5-year-old canine dynamo who's as Poppin' fresh as they come! This spirited pooch is a bundle of wiggles, bringing an infectious enthusiasm to every moment. Pillsbury Doughboy is not just a dog; he's a playful and social companion, always ready to spread joy and tail-wagging happiness.

True to his name, Pillsbury Doughboy is incredibly friendly, particularly with his fellow furry friends. His social nature makes him a great fit for households looking to add a fun-loving and canine-social member to the family. While he's exuberant and playful, Pillsbury Doughboy is well-suited for a home with teens and older individuals who can appreciate his zest for life.

One of Pillsbury Doughboy's favorite pastimes is the promise of outdoor adventures. The mere sight of a leash sends him into a frenzy of excitement, eager to embark on walks or play in the yard. Whether it's exploring new scents, chasing after a favorite toy, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, Pillsbury Doughboy is your go-to companion for all things active and lively.

With his boundless energy and lovable personality, Pillsbury Doughboy is more than a pet - he's a source of joy and entertainment. If you're seeking a four-legged friend who can keep up with your zest for life, look no further than Pillsbury Doughboy, the wiggly, playful pup ready to fill your home with laughter and love.

More about this shelter

The South Suburban Humane Society is a 501(c )(3) organization that was started in 1970, serving the animal welfare needs of the entire south suburbs of Chicago. In the beginning, we handled all rescues, adoptions and provided foster care out of private homes. Since November 1973, our organization has been operating a 10,000 square foot open-door animal shelter in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

For over fifty years, our organization has helped tens of thousands of animals. We offer extensive outreach programs including humane education, and community outreach events. We also operate a resale shop located in Steger, Illinois that promotes our organization, our animals and provide much needed income to support our humane work.

The Mission of the South Suburban Humane Society is to protect and promote the well being of pets and their people in our community and beyond.
