My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Juniper needs immediate foster or adopter! URGENT! **Juniper comes with Training. We so want Juniper to find her forever home we have waived her adoption donation - $0 Adoption! Help us find Juniper a foster home or forever home!!** We are in search of a home for Juniper - foster or adopt. Juniper is a happy, friendly, adorable girl. She is affectionate and playful!! She loves to play ball!! Juniper loves to hang out with you or play in the yard. She is affectionate and loves to give kisses once she knows you. Some people scare her, but once she knows you she is darling and playful. She is so eager to please. Juniper will need a home with a fenced yard. Juniper found herself as a young pup in a shelter in California. She was adopted and then found herself back at the shelter after she was hit by a car. She then made her way to us as a "greyhound mix". She is beyond darling and is so deserving of a true forever home. She has a slight head tilt (adorable) and has some hip dysplasia which may need surgery (but that is not a given) as she ages, but now she is absolutely happy and playful. We did a DNA test on Juniper and we were amazed to see that her mix is 45% German Shepherd, 42% American Staffordshire Terrier, 11% American Pit Bull Terrier and 2% Australian Cattle Dog. We would never have guessed that she had any Terrier in her - she is a gentle, sweet soul and has a coat more like a Labrador or short coated Golden Retriever. And while her "greyhound" roots are not to be found, she is an adorable member of our GPI family and we can't wait to find this darling girl her forever home. Juniper has made great progress in addressing the reactivity issues and she is expected to continue to make great strides with consistent training. Juniper is a past Dog of the Month: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/juniper-march-dog-of-the-month-copy/. Please contact Moira at fastpaws1998@gmail.com right away to help Juniper now!

Additional adoption info

For our dogs, our process starts first with an adoption application. Our dog adoption application includes references, vet info, home photos and proof of home ownership or landlord contact. Our requirements vary per dog, but we look closely at activity level, yard, time away, previous pets, current pets etc.. During that time they may also have a home visit or long conversation (depending upon the situation of the dog, if warranted) with one of our professional trainers. We deliver the dogs with their quality food, treats, all vet records, training material, resources, etc. We encourage and often require additional training. We keep in communication with our fosters and adopters. We try to do the most to set everyone up to succeed. We are upfront about their commitment, training & responsibilities Adoption fees for our dogs and puppies range from $200 - $600 Great people are certainly out there for our dogs because we are having very good success. The cat adoption process is similar but not as involved. We have a shortened application process. At any time the animal can be returned to us if it doesn't work out. The adoption fees cover a portion of the expenses in spay/neuter, vet care, foster care and boarding for some dogs.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

Our dogs are in foster care in Georgia and Western Washington while we vet, spay, neuter and get to know them. We do regular transports of dogs and puppies rescued from high kill shelters in Georgia. Please go to www.raincityrescue for more info and adoption application. We look forward to meeting you and finding a perfect match for your family.

More about this rescue

We are a small group of animal lovers who couldn’t “click off” email pleas any longer . We just started saying YES to dogs in need. We are not breed specific, but do love our Pits and Pit mixes who are always the last in the shelters and first in our hearts. We have connected with great trainers, super adopters, the best transporters and people within the rescue community to build a strong network to help these animals. But we are “DOING IT” and “LOVING IT”. Unlike others, we just jumped in and later decided to talk about it!! Keeping our "heads in the sand" did not work for this group of amazing "can-do" women.
