My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Saylor is the sweetest pup you’ve been looking for!

Saylor is a little over a year old, about 45-50 pounds and she is beyond sweet. She is currently living in a foster home and her host family agrees she’s amazing. According to her family “Saylor is one of the gentlest souls I've met!” Saylor spends her days going for long walks and is great on the leash, you’ll find her nose to the ground sniffing everything. She is very playful; Saylor enjoys playing fetch and loves to play with other dogs. She will also chew on her bone and occupy herself until she takes a nap usually cuddling with her bone. Saylor does not display food concerns and will let the humans eat in peace under the table. This pup has a quiet sweet disposition with a medium energy level. When she’s outside, Saylor will get the zoomies but her favorite activity is to be inside cuddling up to her people - snuggle bug and tummy rub enthusiast are understatements! Saylor is good with other dogs and she seems to be good with cats. This smart pup sleeps through the night without having accidents and she knows to ring the bell when she wants to go out. Saylor also knows the commands sit, leave it, come, no and she’s working on expanding her vocabulary….down, play, touch, dropt it, settle, heel. She’s a true people pleaser and is eager to learn. When she sleeps on her doggie bed, she gets in the silliest positions, Saylor must have been a contortionist in another life. Saylor is not a vocal dog and hardly barks, but when she’s excited you will know with her trill, it almost sounds like she’s singing!

Saylor and her puppies were living in NC under a horrible neglect situation. According to the shelter, Saylor was starved before giving birth to 10 beautiful puppies. Saylor should have weight 45-50 pounds but she was less than 35 pounds while nursing her puppies. Her owners contacted the shelter and threatened to shoot Saylor and the puppies if the shelter didn't take them. Thankfully the shelter was able to step in and save Saylor and her puppies. The shelter contacted FHDR directly and told us their story, how could we say no? Transportation arrangements for them to come to NJ to live in foster homes and start living their best lives. Despite the rough start Saylor was given, she’s truly the sweetest dog and deserves nothing but love and cuddles.

If you have a furever home for this pet, please e-mail Furever Home Dog Rescue at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and request an adoption application.

The breed and age of this pet is listed as is our best guess. We have no background info on who the mom and dad are.

Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be left alone all day.

We do not have a shelter facility you can visit. Our volunteers foster the dogs and pups in their homes once they have been vetted and transported here to NJ.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you see a pup that you are interested in adopting, please email us at FHDR@att.net.com & ask for an adoption application. All applicants must be at least 24 years old AND they must be the head of household. Renters are welcome as long as dogs are allowed by their landlords.

Please note we do not adopt puppies/dogs to homes where they will be alone all day.

Upon completion and review, if application meets our requirements, we contact you to discuss the dog and arrange a home visit. Appointments for meet and greets of the dog will only be set after an adoption application has been completed and reviewed.

The adoption process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks upon receipt of your application.

Please understand an application does not guarantee an adoption.

If the adoption application is approved, we will set up a meet and greet. The applicant will have the opportunity to meet the dog and ask the foster questions about the dog. If everyone thinks the adoption is a good fit, the adoption will be finalized.

The adopter will be required to sign an adoption agreement and a spay/neuter agreement (if dog is under 6 months old).

More about this rescue

Our Mission

At Furever Home Dog Rescue, we thank you for considering the adoption of a rescue dog. We understand that you may have other rescue groups to choose from and that is good news for everyone.

Why? This year alone, approximately 7 million pets will die in shelters across the US. The more rescue groups finding forever homes for these pups, collectively we can reduce that number of unnecessary deaths significantly.

WHY CHOOSE FUREVER HOME DOG RESCUE - There are some subtle differences about Furever Home Dog Rescue that we believe benefits our adopters in so many ways:

1. Our pups are temperament tested by the shelters and fully vetted by licensed veterinarians prior to being considered for Furever Home Dog Rescue.
2. All of our pups are placed in foster homes prior to adoption where our fosters provide further evaluation and house training on our pups.
3. Our adopters meet with the foster family and gain valuable insight into the pups behavior toward training, food, interaction with children, dogs, cats, and other very important intangibles.
4. We believe this process further benefits our adopters since we match families and pups based on this valuable insight.

We are an all-volunteer group located in New Jersey dedicated to finding furever homes for all of our rescue dogs. Our dogs and puppies come from over populated, high kill shelters in North Carolina, Texas and the Caribbean.

We have been working with these shelters for a long time and have established a wonderful relationship with the volunteers and local veterinarians. These shelters unfortunately are over populated with puppies and dogs for many reasons: affordability, unplanned litters, moving away, strays, etc. The shelters only has so much space and resources to care for these dogs, and as a result they need rescue groups like Furever Home Dog Rescue along with adopters like you to help find wonderful homes for these pups.

Each week, Furever Home Dog Rescue previews the available pups at the shelters with our foster families. The selected pups are brought to the vet for age appropriate vetting and to get a Certificate of Health. Once medically cleared, they are carefully transport from the shelters to Furever Home Dog Rescue in New Jersey.

Once the pups arrive in NJ, they live in their foster homes along with children and other pets. This allows us to get a sense of the pups personalities and needs, so we can place them with their furever families.

Prior to adoption, all pups receive age appropriated vetting and vaccinations, they are dewormed and receive flea and tick preventatives. Pups older than 6 months are spay/neutered and pups over 1 year also get tested for HW, Lyme and E-Cannis. Puppies under 6 months are adopted with a spay/neuter agreement that the adopters are responsible to have done at 6 months.

FOSTER HOMES ARE ALWAYS WELCOME - Because we do not have a local shelter, we depend on our foster families. We are always looking for more people who are willing to open their homes to foster a pup on a temporary basis until they are adopted to their furever homes. Fostering is a rewarding experience and you will be helping save a dogs life. There are puppies, young dogs & older dogs of different breeds that need foster homes.

Please consider helping these wonderful dogs get a second chance. With your help, we can save more dogs from being destroyed simply because there is a lack of space at the shelter. If you would like to be a part of our rescue efforts and are interested in short term fostering, please email go to FureverHomeDogRescue.com and complete an adoption applicatiom.

Adoption Policy

ADOPTING A FRIEND - If you see a pup that you are interested in adopting, please email us at FureverHomeDogRescue@gmail.com and ask for an adoption application. All applicants must be at least 24 years old and the homeowner. Please note submitting an application does not guarantee adoption. The adoption process consists of your completion of an adoption application, our review of the application and contacting relevant references & verifying the application information. The adoption process can take anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks upon receipt of your application. If your application meets our initial requirements, we will contact you to discuss the dog and arrange a home visit. Please note that our further due diligence will determine if your family is awarded the pup. We understand you are excited to meet our pups, but because we do not have a physical shelter and all our pups are in foster homes, we need to limit pet visitation to Approved Applicants only. If your application is completed and approved by Furever Home Dog Rescue, we will be happy to schedule your visit. We expect all members of the family to be at the meet and greet. Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment. When bringing a new pet into your family, everyone in the family should have a chance to spend time with the dog before adopting. And everyone needs to agree that it's a good idea. When you meet the pup, Furever Home Dog Rescue will make a determination if it's a match. If it's a match, you are welcome to adopt the pup at that time. You are never obligated to adopt the pup. Please note, Furever Home Dog Rescue reserves the right to refuse an adoption to anyone for any reason.
