My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Belikin was found wandering by himself on a beach in Belize...just a tiny little puppy skin and bones..pitiful. The American couple who found him couldn't leave him behind so they found a way to bring him home to Tennessee with them. He has grown into a beautiful dog who is very affectionate and loves being with people. He is house-trained, e-collar trained and leash trained. He travels well in a car. Due to Belikin's rough start where he was basically nearly starved to death, he has always been very possessive of his food and understandedly so. He has been hand fed and will allow the nice gentleman who found him to take his food way with no issues. However, he does not like other animals around when he is eating. The family who saved him has 3 other older dogs, 3 cats and 2 small children living with him so unfortunately the current living situation isn't ideal for Belikin. Belikin is such a loving pet but would be best as the only dog in his home due to his possessiveness.

More about this rescue

Keely was my 14-year-old pitbull that crossed Rainbow Ridge a few years ago. She was the most mishievous, rambunctious girl you can imagine and she was my girl. She was the kind of dog that many would have given up on. She was an escape artist and I spent many days and nights searching for her once even finding out that she had snuck in through a neighbor's cat door and walked upstairs to his bedroom, jumped on his bed and woke him up with a lick in the face at 3am in the morning. On one of our daily runs I had to swim into a cow pond to save a cow that she had decided to grab by the ear while the cow was taking a dip. She decided my neighbor's pet llama was a little too close to me one day and decided to grab her around the throat....llama was fine. So many fun stories...smile emoticon I often wondered if Keely had not found me and ended up in animal control....would she have made it out? Most pits don't....over 750,000 euthanized yearly...90% of bully-type dogs that end up in animal control are PTS immediately. This led me to start a rescue group named after Keely. I mainly rescue medium to large breed dogs from animal control as we know those are the first ones to be euthanized. I also focus on catahoulas as those are often misunderstood and end up in animal control but I've worked with all breeds. Keely's Friends Dog Rescue has rescued and rehomed over 900 dogs at this point and I look forward to helping so many more. I dream of a world where we no longer have to euthanize any dog for overpopulation and every dog has a wonderful, loving home.
