My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet, precious, and oh so dainty Penny is in search of a calm and patient home to call her own. This doxie mix might have longer than expected legs, but this 1 year old petite (10lbs) girl is special beyond measure. Her soulful eyes reach unimaginable depths. Those chocolate eyes coupled with those velvety long ears, tricolor face, precious freckles, and ridiculous yoga poses make Penny a show stopper.

In her short life, Penny endured more than any dog should ever bare. Her heart was hurt beyond measure and her soul is healing. Once Penny opens her heart, she is a sweet, loving and happy girl. At first, she is a tad timid. However, her love of food and attention allows her to quickly acclimate.

Penny loves being indoors and at her trusted human’s side. In her foster home, she is working on her love for the great outdoors…or yard. Penny is fully pad trained and a respectful house guest.

Penny sleeps through the night on her dog bed and excitedly greets you in the morning. She is a snack connoisseur and will let you know what her latest favorite nom nom is. Penny is wonderful with other dogs and thrives with canine companionship. She finds comfort in their presence and is extremely respectful of a gamete of dog personalities. Penny just speaks dog…well. She is good with confident cats with a big personality. Good news is, most cats are much larger than her!

Penny came from a horrific hoarding case. She suffered neglect and abuse, and was deprived of human contact. Truly, it’s amazing how well she is adjusted to her life post rescue.

Penny prefers suburbia or rural life over big city living. After what she endured, the chaos of city and apartment life are just too much for her. She is quiet in her current foster home but will bark if she hears neighbors according to her first offer home in the city. So to be safe we want to place her in a single home and prefer it be fully fenced.
