My name is Ben!

DOB June 12/23, Ben is a male Dalmation/Poodle mix who was surrendered by a commercial breeder along with his brother Jerry (Jerry is now adopted)

Due to being a large breed and the health risks of early neuter in young large breed dogs, his adoption will be on a neuter/non breeding contract with his neuter of course paid for by the rescue, in order to provide him with his best maturity/health/growth potential.

His neuter will be scheduled for approx Feb/2024 in Waterloo ON and his new family will need to live within approx one hour of Waterloo to attend his surgery.

Ben has attended initial puppy training during his time in foster care, Registration with an approved positive method trainer for classes will be mandatory to set him up for success with his new family.

IS YOUR FOSTER DOG DESTRUCTIVE? No-he is a puppy so is crated when alone and requires supervision of course when uncrated like any puppy

OKAY WITH MANIPULATIONS? Yes-go slowly and provide treats while handling him as he is still building his confidence being a puppy

PERSONALITY? happy, funny, loves to run and play love his food

BED TIME HABITS? take him out for last pees and poops, then toss a few treats into his crate, close the door, cover his crate over completely, put some music on and tell him " night night' it does take him a few unites to settle, but then he is good for the night

OTHER HABITS/ROUTINES THAT WILL HELP THE DOG SETTLE INTO THEIR NEW HOME: patience as he is a puppy and will need constant supervision getting used to his new home, routines and humans

STRENGTHS/AREAS THEY HAVE IMPROVED ON: crating was his biggest challenge, but he is doing much better and likes his crate now
confidence being out and about has come a long way as well.

TRANSPORTATION? crate or seat belted in the back seat

PLEASE DESCRIBE THE PERFECT ADOPTIVE HOME FOR YOUR FOSTER DOG BASED ON WHAT YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED. someone with a big fenced yard for him to play, another younger social dog for a friend-though not mandatory , patience and willing to continue building his confidence with love

*Children must be 8+ yrs/respectful and dog savvy
* As an active young puppy with a life expectancy of 15+yrs , this dog requires a family who is able to meet all of their needs for their entire lives. Geriatric applicants are not an appropriate match for this reason.

*Inground/ground level Pools and ponds must be separately fenced from yard

Adoption fee is $700: fees include microchip, age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and all vet care during their time with us as well as his neuter which will be done by Hobo Haven Rescue at our expense, through our vet located in Waterloo ON when this puppy is an appropriate age ,

For anyone possibly interested in adopting from Hobo Haven, here are a few, but not all, criteria to be aware of:

An adoption application must be completed and approved, including vet references as well as a home visit (Zoom ), prior to meeting available dogs.

All dogs are placed in loving foster homes during their time with us, we do not have a shelter to visit.

Our motto is "know better/do better" and we ask all adoptive families to be as committed to providing our dogs with quality nutrition as they are to providing love. This documentary is not advertising, purely just educational.

We do not allow applicants to visit until pre-approved for adoptions. Our dogs are in private foster family homes, not in a shelter.
