My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN PAID!

Sophie is a very sweet girl! She loves to cuddle! Sophie also loves sleeping by her favorite person and she likes to get as close to you as she can. She has a very loud purr, so you can hear it when you are petting her, or she will just purr when she is on your lap. She loves cat nip! Sophie does get spooked very easily. Sophie was found outside and upon examination she was found to have several nasty bite wounds. Unfortunately, when she was taken to the vet for her wounds, she tested positive for FIV. Sophie is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Please call Sheyenne Valley Friends of Animals at 701-840-5047 or email jenni.svfa@gmail.com if you are interested in Sophie or if you have any questions regarding FIV.

WHAT IS FIV? Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common and infectious diseases of cats around the world. In infected cats, FIV attacks the immune system, leaving the cat vulnerable to infections. Although cats infected with FIV may appear normal for years, they eventually suffer from immune deficiency, which allows normally harmless bacteria or viruses found in the everyday environment to potentially cause severe illnesses. Though there is no cure for FIV, recent studies suggest that cats with FIV commonly live average life spans, as long as they are not also infected with feline leukemia virus. While FIV is contagious, cats typically do not transmit the virus by sharing an eating bowl with other cats or through other feline contact actions like: Social grooming, sneezing, and sharing a litter box.

For all animal adoptions, you must complete a Pre-Adoption application found on our website at svfanimals.org under the “Forms” tab. Submit PDF/Word document to jenni.svfa@gmail.com.
