Introducing Harley

This handsome 3 year old boy, with one blue eye, a previously docked tail, and attractive cow-like black spots on his white and speckled coat, arrived with a group of dogs whose owner could no longer care for them.

Harley is an Australian Cattle Dog mix who weighs about 45 pounds. He's a very sweet boy with a great disposition, who would love to be your lap dog (if you have strong thighs, ha). He loves playing fetch with a rubber ball.

Harley is a fairly alpha dog - he gets along pretty well with submissive female dogs, like Dutchess in his video, but would not do well with another alpha dog. He's reported to be fine with cats, as there were cats in his prior home, though you'd still want to do a slow on-leash supervised introduction for the first few weeks.

He really enjoys snuggles and will initiate snuggle time if you are sitting near him, by cozying up to your neck and then slowly and gently easing himself up your legs to proper lap and snuggle position. He's very human-social and likes it when staff or volunteers sit with him while he enjoys a dog biscuit, so much that he will often take his offered biscuit to wherever the people are before munching.

He is housetrained. Harley's energy level is low to moderate, and he is happy with one or two fun sessions of fetch a day. He's not particularly familiar with leashes, but doesn't fight being leashed and is gentle while trying to figure out why he's attached to a human.

He also takes treats very gently, and is a favorite of the staff and volunteers.

NOTE: FOR THE REST OF 2023, A DONOR IS SPONSORING ADOPTION FEES FOR SELECTED PETS! This means any adoption payment from the adopter is optional and will be fully tax-deductible; if the adopter's donation is less than our normal adoption fee, the sponsor will make up the difference.

All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Harley is a suggested minimum of SPONSORED (pay what you like) (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.

Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
