My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Piper & Phoebe ‘The Charmed Ones’

These darling kittens, The Charmed Ones, are perfectly imperfect. These two little sweethearts, sisters Piper and Phoebe, were born blind due to a genetic abnormality. Despite this minor challenge, these kittens are just as capable as sighted kittens, and they are amazing pets. Phoebe and Piper are masters at using their other senses to get around. They’re so good at using their other senses that you would hardly know they were blind by just watching them. They amaze everyone they meet with their charm and their ability to live an extraordinary cat life. Because these sweet girls were raised so closely with humans, their personalities are absolutely fabulous.

Piper and Phoebe are darling lap cats, they are extremely social and anxious to meet all our guests, strangers or not. These blind cats know nothing different, they were both born blind. The girls are both used to living a life dependent on all their other heightened senses. Do not feel sorry for these lovely wee beasties, their lives are full, and they are pure magic because of how they move through our world. Seriously, they are simply amazing. As a pet parent of a blind cat of our own, we are amazed daily by their spatial awareness and sweet personalities. Piper and Phoebe have been exposed to other kittens, adult cats, and cat-friendly dogs from a young age, and were great friends with everyone. These girls are simply special. The sisters will come to a whistle for their meals and treat time, and show up to that whistle anytime you need to find them. Piper and Phoebe would have a wonderful life with a quiet family as inside-only cats. They are waiting for the purrrrfect family to meet them, charm them, and be scooped up as fun and amazing new family members. Come and meet these darling girls and give them a chance to melt your heart. These girls are constantly found together, either sleeping, cuddling, or playing together for hours. It is for this reason that we would prefer the girls get adopted together.

Piper:
Piper is the bigger of the two sisters, she has a soft, short coat of fur in a tabby/tortoiseshell (or ‘torbie’ pattern). She has a ridiculously bent and quirky tail, which is another genetic anomaly. It looks really silly, but her tail is perfectly functional. Piper is a serious cuddle monster, she loves her people and will follow us around the house “helping” us do our chores. Piper is very social, fun, playful, and extremely charming. She’s in your lap the second you sit down purring her sweet little heart out in pure happiness.

Phoebe:
Pheebs, as we like to call her, is a little sillier than her big sissy. Even though the girls are from the same litter, Phoebe was the runt and is still smaller than Piper. Phoebe cracks us up because for months, she looked like a kitten with a bad hair day. She’s just now growing into her beautiful medium length, soft, calico fur coat. Phoebe also has a silly bent and quirky tail, but it doesn’t look as silly as Piper’s crazy tail. Phoebe is definitely the baby of the litter. She follows her big sissy around and is usually a step right behind Piper. Phoebe is as sweet, cuddly and social as her big sissy too!

If you are looking to add a pair of delightful kitties to your family, please consider meeting Piper and Phoebe.

*****ADOPTION PROCESS*****

APPLICATION:
Please contact us and we will send you an online application. A response is usually given with 24-48 hrs. if we think it's a potentially good match.

INTERVIEW:
An adoption counselor will contact you via phone to answer any questions and if it seems like a good fit, arrangements will be made for all parties to meet with desired cat(s) at a mutually agreeable time.

APPROVAL:
If adoption is approved, a contract and adoption fee to cover veterinary costs will be required. You will be given medical files.

TIME FRAME:
Based on volunteer availability, it is possible for all adoption steps to be completed the same day, however, it is not guaranteed. Please note that occasionally a home check, vet records/references, etc. may be required and multiple people may be interested in the same cat(s) so additional time may be necessary. You are also welcome to get the kitten an appointment with your own veterinarian at your expense prior to adoption, just be aware that may delay the adoption by several days.

WHY:
Our adoption vetting process ensures a proper feline fit for your family. You may be a wonderful pet owner but may not be the best fit for a particular cat, or other extenuating circumstances. Also, YOU may know you are a good pet owner, but we don't. We exist because too many people view pet ownership as casual or disposable so we want to be sure the best match is made for the next 15-20 years. Your patience and understanding as to where we are coming from are much appreciated. Our adoption process is also reflective of the extremely thorough medical protocol our kittens receive. Thank you!
