My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A SWEET, ACTIVE & PLAYFUL GUY:  Approx. 6 years / Approx. 40 lbs.

Hello, I’m Alex!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I am so grateful that they have taken me into their program so I can find a new family to love and be loved by!  I was adopted for a few weeks, but they realized I needed more exercise than they could provide.  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program and had a blast!  Now I’m ready to find my furever family!

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I’ve met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them a lot, so if you have a very playful dog at home who would like a buddy, let’s meet!  My trainer thinks that I’d benefit from having a dog playmate in my new home to help me burn off some energy and pal around with, especially when you aren’t home. / Cats unknown. / I met nice kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them as well as in a home I visited! When we played, I was a little mouthy and jumpy, so a home with kids ages 10 and up could be a good fit for me, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a super sweet and affectionate fellow with a very active nature who wants to be very active with my family!  I’m a real people dog and have great focus – which is wonderful for my continued training.  I am a masterful high jumper, so best not to leave me unattended in a yard.  Perhaps we can learn agility together for fun!  I heard one of the volunteers say that I’m a happy and goofy boy . . . his 11-year-old son even specifically requested to take me out for a second day trip . . . sounds like a ringing endorsement to me! I’m showing some separation anxiety so I’d love a family member who is home a lot, perhaps a stay-at-home or work-from-home person that I could hang out with and be active with too.  I think I’d also be a good candidate for doggie daycare which sounds fun to me! / My energy level is very high at 9-10 so I need regular exercise please.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in the prison/foster training program for 3 – 4 hours at a time, but I wouldn’t want to spend a lot of time in a crate. / My potty manners have been good at MM’s and on the prison/foster training program schedule too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like toys (especially tennis balls and stuffed toys) and love to play, so I look forward to lots of play sessions with you.  A fenced yard would be great in my new home, but I may dig, so – as mentioned above, don’t leave me there unattended.  I like to splash in my water pail so maybe I’m a water dog in the making, lol.  I enjoy getting affection and will reward you with nice kisses.  I also enjoy walks, so let’s go lots of places together and of course be active! / Other than what’s mentioned above I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I’m current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I’ve started 2 medications for some separation anxiety and not getting as much exercise as I need, and they are helping! So just ask for more information about that.

I am looking for a home where my family will be active with me, and we’ll have lots of fun! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
