My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

B-b-b-b-b-b-Benny and the petssss! I'm Benny, and I'm a delightful boy who LOVES getting pets. I also LOVE tennis balls. And other toys. And treats. And car rides. And you. And, well, everything. I go on Doggy Day Outs all the time, and I will gladly accept scratches and cuddles from everyone I meet along the way. I will spend hours chasing after tennis balls, but I will stop in my tracks when the treat bag comes out. I am a sucker for food and know sit, and thanks to yummy snackos I'm also working on down, paw, and my leash manners. I am dog friendly and like to play rough and rowdy! I can be a chill guy once I get my zoomies out and say hi to everyone, and I really think crashing on the couch with you after a day of adventure would be totally rad. Let's play ball - ask to meet me today!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Potential adopters must fill out an application and take part in an interview. This process helps us to make better matches between potential adopters and adoptable pets. It is provides the opportunity to educate a potential adopter on what to expect after he or she brings home a rescued pet. Once a potential adopter has been approved for adoption we require an adoption fee, which covers the spay or neuter and all age appropriate vaccines for cats, dogs, kittens and puppies. All of our animals are on monthly flea and tick preventative and all dogs and puppies are on monthly heartworm preventative. At the time of adoption we also require the adopter to sign a contract agreeing to provide a loving home with the appropriate vet care as well as food, water, and shelter. In the future, if for any reason the adopter can not keep the pet we require the pet to be returned to our care with the original adoption paperwork.

More about this rescue

We are a 501(c)(3) tax-deductible animal rescue organization whose mission is to save as many animals as possible. We work closely with Alachua County Animal Services to reduce euthanasias at the Alachua County shelter.

We adopt dogs and cats of all ages to good homes at the Gainesville Petsmart (Butler Plaza on Archer Rd, click for a map) every Saturday and Sunday. We have a great selection of adoptable animals, including puppies, adult dogs, small dogs, cats, and kittens. All of our animals have been started on vaccinations (depending on how long they have been with us, they may need further vaccinations after adoptions). All have been vet checked and treated for any notable illness. All dogs are heartworm negative and many have been through heartworm treatment in our program. Some of these animals may have special needs, all of which are discussed at time of adoption.

We often have specials on adult animal adoptions. Not that these animals have flaws, but they are slightly used and may not be perfect! These are adult animals looking for a permanent home and they have many different stories of their pasts and all deserve a second chance at the good life.
