My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pickles is a happy-go-lucky 3-year-old, 15-pound Hound dog. We can’t for the life of us figure out what breed mix he is, but we know there’s some Basset Hound somewhere in the mix because he stands with his front feet together, pointed out, in classic Basset stance. Whatever he is, he’s awfully stinkin’ cute!

Pickles is a great dog for someone with no other dogs. (He wants very badly to be the alpha dog.) As a 3-year-old, he has his manners down. He’s house trained and crate-trained—although I don’t crate him. I leave him in a bedroom when I’m gone, up to 9 hours, and he’s never had an accident. He is totally non-destructive—he won’t chew on or destroy anything, not even toys. He would love to sleep in the bed, though his foster won’t let him because she already has 4 dogs in the bed and does not want 5! He is not a barky dog. He could use a little leash work, but he’s not bad on a leash.

As mentioned earlier, Pickles doesn’t really play—not with toys, not even with the other dogs in his foster home. What he wants to do most is sit in your lap, look up at you adoringly and have you tell him what a handsome boy and good dog he is. He will happily present his tummy to be rubbed, and he’s all in for a good ear scritch as well.

Pickles is interested in new people and gets along well. He’s just a good-natured, happy dog with a tail that wags and wags.

Pickles would do well with a single, family (teenage children only) or senior couple. He just wants somebody to love, follow around, and be slavishly devoted to. We found him wandering the streets of Waxahachie with a Great Pyrenees buddy who looked after him. He is such a good dog and deserves a loving home.

Pickle’s adoption fee is $275 and includes neuter, all shots & microchip.

Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.
