My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Do you like long walks or hikes in the woods? Maybe chasing a ball or a rabbit across the yard? Then come out to the shelter and meet Chevy, a 2-year-old coonhound mix whose medium energy level makes him equally at home running outside with dog pals & snuggling up with people of all ages.
Chevy's probably a little too laid-back to be a good hunting dog, but his working dog instincts are strong, so he will lead you around the neighborhood investigating everything.
He loves to meet new people and play. When he's really happy, he'll thump his front paws and give you a wide, toothy grin. The only thing Chevy loves more is chew toys. He has been known to tear apart and try to eat the softer chew toys he's given. In fact, you might say chew toys, especially soft, fabric ones, are a consuming passion for him. As one of our volunteers said, "Chevy is an exciting dog with a very intense toy drive.
His one request? No cats allowed.

More about this shelter

The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society accepts both stray animals and owner-surrender animals from Boyle County. We work hard to find loving forever homes for all adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. We also have a low cost spay/neuter clinic for low income pet owners from Boyle County and the surrounding area.
