Hello! My name is Micky. I am a 22-pound, 11-year-old Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. My former mom got sick with cancer and sadly had to give me to the Shih Tzu Rescue on November 26th because she couldn’t care for me anymore. While I miss my mom, I’m having a great time at my foster home. I love to play with their one year-old puppy. I enjoy other dogs and don’t seem to have any issues with them.
My foster mom (I call her FM for short) says I’m a sweet, quiet, warm and curious boy. I potty well outdoors, love to go outside and especially love walks. My FM gives me a lot of treats because I do so well. I give lots of kisses and love to snuggle. I enjoy sitting on the couch and looking out the window. If you pet me, I often roll over so I can get a good belly rub. That is my favorite! I rarely bark unless I want something, like dinner or to go potty. And speaking of dinner, I love to eat! I am, however, picky when it comes to treats. My FM says I have a sophisticated pallet.
I’m a pretty mellow guy. I’d be the perfect companion for a family or couple who are looking for an older dog who is potty-trained and easy going. The following are requirements for Micky’s new family:
* A warm, loving family who is committed to positive reinforcement as the primary training and communication method.
* A family who is home much of the day so that Micky is not left alone for long stretches of time.
* Micky was used to living with an older person, and would do best in a home with no small children. A family with children over the age of 10 will be considered.
* Micky enjoys playing with another small dog, so another dog in the family would be great, but he would also be fine as an only dog.
* A fenced-in yard is preferred (but not required) so Micky can be supervised while being let out often.
* Adoptive family should live within 30 miles of the Twin City area so Micky’s foster mom can schedule a home visit.
* Adoptive family must agree to attend the Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion of Minnesota held in September each year.
Micky is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $170.00 plus $14.49 sales tax for a total of $184.49.
