We have recently agreed to help a non-profit organization out with some dogs in their care. This org does educational work and helps out owners in crisis. They end up with dogs in their care from time to time and do not have the resources to effectively find them homes. These dogs are not with us at the moment but on our wait list to come to Barlee's - we are accepting applications for them and will place them straight into foster care, or foster-to-adopt since there has been assessment of most of the dogs. JAKE is one of these dogs, and our contact describes him below:
"Jake is a five year old N/M, completely vetted, on heartworm and flea and tick prevention meds. His owner had gotten him as "free" in January. Although she had a fenced in yard, he kept escaping the four foot fence. She couldn't understand why as she walked him once a week. Her solution was to tie him up during the day and bring him in to sleep in a crate at night. She released him to us after trying to "get rid of him".
Jake has been under our care for about a month. He is the sweetest boy. He LOVES going to the park and walking on the leash and then heading to the dog park and taking in the sites. He goes on file trips with me in the car to the pet stores, picking up my child, running errands and getting treats at the bank tellers window. He meets many dogs on leash at the Greenway were we walk and is friendly to all. He has been around elementary age children and other dogs. Jake would probably like a furry friend to live with in addition to his human family. Uncertain as to how he feels about cats :)
Stats : approximately 5 years old, fully vetted. chipped. 68 pounds, haven't heard him bark yet. House and crate trained. A very sweet boy.."
