You want young dog energy without the hassle of training a puppy? Look no further! Meet Lucy, an energetic friendly german shepherd husky mix. She is 4 years old. Her playful spirit and curious personality will shine through every day. Fetch is her favorite. This lady will either have a tennis ball in her mouth, or will be chasing after it in the play yard. She also enjoys tug, puzzle toys and fetch indoors as well as cuddles. She`s very smart and food motivated.
She is currently in a foster home. She is the perfect house guest - potty trained, crate trained and only plays with dog toys. She loves going outside, fetch is her favorite but she also enjoys walks and jogs. She is a great cuddler as well. Her foster lives in an apartment and she does well there although her foster thinks Lucy would love having a backyard. Her foster works a hybrid job & Lucy does well when her foster is at work for 8 hours & is a good work from home buddy on days her foster works from home.
Stunning Lucy arrived at AAC in December. She loved sharing a kennel with another dog at the shelter, which means she might just make the perfect doggy sister to your resident dog. If a match, we know that Lucy will play, entertain and keep your pup tired!
If you are committed to giving this beautiful lady an active lifestyle, lots of pets and love, we hope that you reach out to meet her!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
