My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pluto is 4 years old (DOB November 2019) and weighs 12 pounds. He is a super well-behaved little dog. He is fully crate-trained: will sleep in his crate and doesn't bark or go potty in the crate. He LOVES to play and knows how to play fetch. He can play tug-of-war, but being a little guy, doesn't quite have the jaw strength to pull on a rope toy continuously. He much prefers a nice game of fetch and will bring back the ball a majority of the time. Pluto is very treat-motivated and has already learned "sit" and "come," and is working on "stay" and "down" (lay down). He is a SUPER friendly pup and extremely affectionate with his humans. He does get along with strangers, but if you are his family, you get a whole special kind of affection and devotion from Pluto. He will look at you and treat you like you are his whole world. He'd love to do everything with you: go out on a walk/jog, cuddle on the couch watching TV, follow you around in the house or in the yard, or sit near you/on your lap as you work. Fortunately, this guy has minimal to no separation anxiety, so if you need to step out for a bit, he will be just fine on his own for a while. He does great with other small/medium dogs.

Originally, Pluto and his 3 sisters were relinquished to us as part of an accidental litter. He was adopted from us in January 2020 as a 10 week old puppy. His owners, unable to keep him, surrendered him to a shelter in December 2023. It is in our adoption contract that if you cannot keep a dog you have adopted from us and have no place for them to go, that they are to be returned to us. We do not want our dogs to have to see a shelter or the streets again. We were in contact with the shelter and were able to have Pluto returned to our care. Despite the sad news of his previous owners not keeping him, he was loved and well-trained. He is an absolute gem of a dog and will make the best companion.

If this listing is still posted, we are still accepting applications. We do not do out-of-state adoptions. We do not hold dogs, please submit your application when you are ready to adopt.

If you are interested in meeting any Poochmatch dog, please visit our website to complete an adoption application. It is in the ADOPTION folder at the top of our home page. Just fill in the blanks and SEND.

We commonly receive multiple applications for a single dog. Nevertheless, only one applicant will be invited to meet a dog at a mutually agreeable appointment day, time & place. Usually Petsmart Yorba Linda or our Santa Ana location near South Coast Plaza.

All adoption fees cover the mandatory and non-negotiable spay/neuter, rabies, microchip, microchip registration, full sets of core vaccinations (rabies and 1 set of distemper/parvo for adults, 4 for puppies) and deworming. Adoption fees vary based on age, breed, size and the costs incurred on the dog's behalf by us i.e. medical, behavioral training, etc.
