My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This sweet, spunky, funny, and playful boy is all about the fun—and you! He loves to play and he loves his people. Too bad his name is Lancer instead of Willy because that would rhyme perfectly with ‘silly’ and…well, if the shoe fits…His silly side is on display in his photos—he won First Prize in the Biggest Ham Contest and was Second Runner Up in the World’s Longest Tongue Contest.

That is not to say that Lancer can’t be serious—he can and will--if that’s what you want. He cues off his person and finds confidence in that relationship. If you want to try a (low impact*) dog sport-–he’ll do it! If you want to sit on the couch and watch a movie together—he’ll do it! If you want to go on a long hike—he’ll do it!

He is a smart and hard-working boy and loves to train and learn, especially if it involves you! Extra points for a nice snuggle session after training too. He’s all about it!

It’s strange that no one claimed him when he was found as a stray in San Antonio, Texas, because the rescue staff had a blast with him while he was in their care with his sweet demeanor and love of BALL!

Lucky for us, we got to claim him! Unlucky for us, he’s not quite right for the Search and Rescue training we do. *He showed indications of very mild hip irregularities in his x-ray screening, and that won’t do for our high impact work.

The luck is all yours! This is a direct quote from a staff member: ‘He’s a great dog and whoever he ends up with is going to be a very lucky person!’ That kind of says it all!
