Betty is just a tiny little thing at a whopping 6 pounds! Her foster mom says she loves everyone, especially kids, other dogs, & anyone who will love her & hold her. She is quick to get under your feet, so you have to be very mindful of her whereabouts at all times. Being so tiny, she could easily get hurt. At night she has been allowed to sleep in the big bed with everyone & she absolutely loves snuggling up good & tight all night long.
Since Betty is so small, we would like to suggest an area much like what you would set up for a puppy. A part of the home where she can see activity & observe, but it is a place where she won't be a trip hazard. Where she can play, lounge, or nap when her family is not directly engaging with Betty. Playpens, 4-squares, or xpens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too.
Betty is not leashed trained; she will need secure containment immediately. Her foster mom has tried to work with her, but so far, Betty thinks the leash is just a toy, lol. If you have a fence, it needs to be completely secure & enclosed. NEVER EVER should she be left in a yard without supervision. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep her off the stairs unsupervised. Additionally, please be aware of the stair railing & the distance between the spindles.
Betty is working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, her foster mom reports that she is doing very well. Remember, in a new home, a new environment means that new habits will have to be established.
Bringing home a new family member is a big responsibility that requires time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt a cuddle partner to lounge with you. Betty is ready to be someone's best friend!
