My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A note from our new friend's foster!
“Age is approximately 1 1/2 - 2 years old and he’s about 45 lbs. He was found by a lady at the dog park in March of last year. Animal control officer was off so an HPD officer took him to dispatch. He was so incredibly well behaved and cared for that they really thought he belonged to someone. My daughter was working at dispatch and knew I’d take him in to try to find his owner. I took him to get scanned for a chip, which he did not have, and I put him on the “Found” list with them. I posted him on Facebook a couple of different times and never found an owner. We call him Rocky and he has learned to respond to it.

Rocky walks very well on a leash, he is kennel trained and will whine to let you know if he needs to go outside. He is pretty well house trained. Rocky is also good at lying down with verbal and visual command, and he shakes hands. He was taught this by whoever his owner was. Rocky has a whole lot of energy and is very toy driven and loves playing fetch with a tug rope, and loves playing tug of war. He hasn’t been aggressive towards my other dogs, but he is so strong and intense with play that it could be mistaken as an aggressive type behavior, and therefore he would be best suited as an only dog with an active adult family, or with someone who has another larger sized dog that could help him run all of that energy out. He has been around my cats and small dogs in the house and wants to try to play with them, but I would not suggest he be in a home with small animals or little kids since he just plays way too hard. He loves attention though, and really looks forward to some lovin’ and belly scratches when he’s not all about playing.”

Rocky will be ready for adoption after his neuter, microchipping & vaccinations scheduled for 12/27/2023!

More about this rescue

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit dog rescue in Huntsville, TX. Our organization is named for a rescue Papillon who belonged to the president of the board before passing away in August 2021. Dot and the other heart-dogs we've lost have inspired us to help address the pet-homelessness problem in Texas. Our focus is an adoption program and would like to eventually expand to financial assistance for spaying & neutering in our community.
