My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Note from his foster:
“This guy is a blue/tan smaller pittie, about 35 lbs. He is so stinking cute and has a ton of energy! Dispatch got an animal welfare call in June on this guy. Said that there was a starving dog running around over by some homes near the high school. HPD also picked this guy up. He was very thin, dehydrated, and lethargic, but a super sweet cuddler. He also did not have a microchip.

I have struggle with this guy a bit. He is highly food driven and is constantly on the search for food, even now, 6 months later, and after having been fattened up and on a consistent feeding schedule. I tried for months to kennel train this baby, but he never got the hang of it. He would urinate outside, but we could walk for 45 minutes and he would not poop until I put him back in the kennel, and then it would be almost immediately. I tried and tried and tried with no success, so I made the hard decision to set up an outdoor run for him to be in.

He is very good around all my other dogs big and small and is absolutely fine with my cats! He is probably about 1 1/2 years old also. I’ve worked with him walking on a leash. He does well, but still pulls a bit. I think he could easily be trained, especially if rewarded with training treats. He is all about snacks and food. This boy so deserves someone with patience and love to give! He’s a sweetie for sure and has the makings of a really great pet!”

This special boy needs a special home after we get him neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested and microchipped on 12/27/2023!

More about this rescue

We are a volunteer-run nonprofit dog rescue in Huntsville, TX. Our organization is named for a rescue Papillon who belonged to the president of the board before passing away in August 2021. Dot and the other heart-dogs we've lost have inspired us to help address the pet-homelessness problem in Texas. Our focus is an adoption program and would like to eventually expand to financial assistance for spaying & neutering in our community.
