My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~~THIS IS A COURTESY POST. THIS DOG IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT debbe5@hotmail.com  THANK YOU~~

Hi, my name is Poncho Howdy Doo. My mom saved me from a kill shelter in Houston Texas. I really like it here in the Pacific NW. Even our rainy season doesn’t bother me. I especially enjoy having my head out of the back window when we go for a ride. It's so fun to watch my new world.

I'm about 2 and 1/2 years old, they say retriever, beagle, maybe cattle dog mix. I get along with very well with other dogs and love playing and cuddling with them. Unfortunately, I do like chasing cats so a home without cats would be best for me. I am neutered, up-to-date on all my shots and housebroken.

Everyone says how adorable I am, so in return, I like to roll over and get belly rubs from all my admirers. My ideal forever home would have a fenced yard and maybe a stay-at-home person or working remotely because I really like to just hang out in the office/bedroom with my person nearby and chew on my bones or play with my squeaky toys. I patiently and quietly wait for my mom to come back to her office or home (she leaves the radio on for my listening pleasure) but, ok I'll admit it, I can be a big baby and I love being around people so it would be better if I could be by your side if you want a friend nearby.

I am a healthy boy except I did pick up those nasty heart worms in TX. I am about half way through my treatment and it's not contagious to humans and can only be transmitted to other animals by mosquito. But if your other pets are on preventative care, they are safe. Also, treatment is being paid for, so no worries about the cost.

I am a smart boy and sometimes just have to share my opinion. But I am easily trainable and know several commands already like "sit, stay, wait for me, up (on the bed), come", etc. I think it's nice when I come in from the yard and wait for mom to gently wipe all of my paws with a towel.

If you give me a chance, I will be a loving companion and a funny boy with lots of laughs we can share together.
