My name is Kai!

Please note: This dog came to MHHS due to allegations of cruelty against his former owner. All applicants to adopt this dog will be subject to additional screening and may be asked to provide character and veterinary references, in addition to undergoing a background check and meeting in person with one of our Humane Law Enforcement Officers.

What's up, dudes & dudettes? The name's Kai, and they say that my name means "the vast sea" in Hawaiian and Japanese! Honestly, that's pretty fitting, because I'm almost as big as the ocean! Okay, that might be a stretch, but I certainly do crash into my people with the strength of a gnarly wave and wash them in love! Sometimes I'm a bit of a nervous guy at first, so my personality hides in the deep. But with some patience and the right snacks, you'll find in no time that I'm just a (very) oversized puppy with a goofy, fun-loving personality and an abundance of energy! I really mean it -- I forget my size, so I'm quite the bull in a china shop while I'm still working on my manners. Speaking of which, I REALLY like my stuff, and I don't want to share. So unless you've got a tasty snack of the best variety to trade, you don't want to see my inner shark come out! Anyway, due to my size and my coral-ful personality, I would do best in a home without young kids. And I may like a fellow canine to surf this life with, but we'd need to meet first to make sure we'd be bros. So, want to head out into open waters with me? This pet is part of our Foster-to-Adopt program. You will meet this pet more than once before entering into a 3-week trial placement in your home. You will be matched with a behavior expert to help you and your pet through any bumps in the road during the trial placement. When all parties agree it is a match, we finalize the adoption!
