My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for an adventure buddy who has the ability to CRACK YOU UP at the same time? If so, Maya would like to apply for this position, please! This fun-loving, fun-having, maker-of-her-own-party-wherever-she-goes girl is looking for a good time!

A few of the things she loves about life are: Toys! Any kind! Playing! Any type! Water! Muddy or clear! Training and learning! You! Other dogs! Walks and hikes! Exploring new places! Lounging! (she does have an off switch!)

She is sweet, funny, a little quirky, and has a big personality. Wallflower – NOT! Obviously, she’s a beauty too. She was just a little too much for her original family, so they contacted a Lab rescue who contacted us. She has all the things we love about our high drive dogs: energy, sense of humor, playfulness, and toy drive but she did not pass our very stringent medical exam. She has a liver condition which is normally very manageable in an everyday life situation with a specific diet and medication, but not necessarily manageable if you’re training to deploy to Haiti after an earthquake. We are prepared to work with any potential adopter to better understand and manage this not so uncommon condition.

Maya has done very well in our play groups with other dogs and our staff think she might really enjoy having another dog in her life (in addition to you!)

She’s a good girl who deserves a good home. She promises to provide love, laughter and maybe a few licks in return.
