My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy post…needs new home by second week of January due to family relocating

Please contact alechtersiegel@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting her.

Moka has been a part of our family for the last 5 years since we adopted her from the HRA at 9 months old. She was with us when we bought our first apartment and when we brought home our first kid and then our second. She is part of the family, and we her love so much, but sadly we are moving abroad and are unable to bring Moka with us. She weighs 40 pounds.

Moka is the sweetest pup. She thinks she's a lap dog and will spend all day cuddled up if you let her. She is amazing with kids--even tail pulling doesn't faze her. She is very healthy, fully potty trained, crate trained, good in cars, and loves spending hours playing, hiking, or relaxing. She is fine spending the work day at home alone (though she always loves company).

She does have anxiety and is occasionally reactive around other dogs, so she'd probably be best with a family without dogs already. If what you are looking for is a loving pup who wants nothing more than to cuddle all day long, Moka's your gal.

Unknown with cats at the moment but they are visiting friend with cat in early January

***Disclaimer*** Unfortunately, there are not enough rooms at the inn to admit every dog that needs a furever home. But, we still want to help those dogs (and cats) on their journey! By courtesy posting, AAHA is offering our website/network as an additional resource to help an owner or shelter gain additional exposure for the dog they are trying to place. AAHA has not met nor evaluated the dog (or cat) we are courtesy posting. AAHA makes no representation about courtesy posted pets including the health and temperament and accepts no liability in this exchange. Arrangements for adoptions are made between the caretaker of the pet and the potential adopter.May 12, 2024, 7:27 am

Additional adoption info

An approved application, vet reference, personal reference check and home visit are required to finalize an adoption. We suggest a $200 donation that helps offset some of our expenses such as feeding, boarding, training, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and miscellaneous veterinary costs.
Adoption fees are used to continue to help homeless animals in need!

Go meet their pets

We are a rescue that is dependent on volunteers as we do not have a physical building. We rent space at a kennel in Upperco, Md. If you would like to meet one of our dogs please contact us to make arrangements. Thanks!

More about this rescue

Adopt a Homeless Animal Rescue (AAHA) is a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and assisting animals in crisis. We actively combat animal cruelty in any form.

We have a particular commitment to pit bulls and aim to raise awareness about the breed, help those in need, and educate the public:
•We seek to promote this lovely yet unfairly maligned breed as the sweet, intelligent, affectionate, and people-oriented dogs they are.
•We assume stewardship over their well-being and strive to make this world a better place for them.
•We serve as a resource and/or liaison for shelters, individuals, and the community at large, advocating for any animal in harm's way.
•We also function in an advisory role for private citizens who seek assistance and guidance in better caring for their pets.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Please help us help the animals!
