My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cammie is the sweetest, goofiest love who has grown so much from when she came into rescue, terrified of everything. Now she sprints to the door to shove her head through her harness to go on a walk, frolics through the snow and tall grass, and greets every cat and dog she meets with a slobbery kiss right on the mouth. She tosses her toys in the air and leaps to catch them, curls up next to the grumpy resident dog she won over with her charm, and snuggles with her human on the couch and in bed. Her little stub tail wags so so fast all the time now. She does great getting her nails trimmed and her short coat requires zero maintenance. She potties great in the yard or on leash, and she is a dream road trip companion. She somehow manages to balance on the center console the entire ride, looking out the windows for her next adventure.

Cammie bonds fiercely to her trusted person and cannot wait to find them. In addition to her single, trusted person, she also needs at least one other dog in the home because she just loves them so, so, SO much. She has done beautifully with every single dog she's ever met, from gigantic to tiny, and from puppy to senior. She has a way of winning over even the grumpiest dogs who supposedly don't like other dogs. She would be a perfect addition to any pack and fits in seamlessly to every canine and feline group she meets.

Cammie has some quirks and will need a specific type of family in order to be successful. She prefers women to men - families with men can still apply but should be willing to put in some extra work to build her trust. Her ideal home would be woman-only, or potentially include some teenagers, as Cammie is more trusting of respectful and calm older kids/teens. She is still a shy girl and will need work in order to blend into a new family, but her foster has seen her grow into her potential and, given patience and love, she has the capacity to be the most incredible, loving, joyful lifelong companion.

If you're interested in learning more about whether you and Cammie might be a good fit for each other, please fill out an application and her foster mom would be happy to answer any questions you might have!

Cammie is estimated to be 2 years old and 31 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events!

Sunday, May 5, 12-2pm, Unmapped Brewing, 14625 Excelsior Blvd, Minnetonka, MN 55345 https://www.facebook.com/events/730319065620537

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Go meet their pets

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands Animal Rescue is dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. We are now incorporated and 501(c)3 pending. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
