My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Sunset Street, the sweetest 14-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home! Sunset is a petite 7 lbs bundle of joy who has faced life's challenges with grace. Despite being on heart meds for a heart murmur and enlarged heart (not showing many signs yet) and being blind, this little angel is ready to bring warmth and love to a special someone. she is apayed and has had a recent dental. She is in renal Failure however is showing minimal signs. She is on prescription food for this. Upon adoption we will send a bag of dry food with her and 90 days of meds.

Sunset might be a bit skittish when picked up, understandable given her blindness, but her heart is pure gold. She's not the biggest snuggler, but she finds solace in sleeping on fluffy beds, and who can blame her? ️

In her kennel, Sunset is the epitome of quiet elegance, and she would appreciate a calm environment. No small or active children, please, as she deserves a peaceful and loving home where she can feel safe.

Fashionista alert! Sunset has a flair for style and loves donning stylish sweaters. She's not a picky eater and enjoys a mix of kibble with some wet food. An elevated food bowl is a must for this little queen.

Sunset is an excellent travel companion and rides well in a car. Imagine the joy she'd feel in a stroller, exploring the world and soaking up the sunshine during leisurely walks.

This precious girl is seeking someone with a heart big enough to provide the love she deserves for the time she has left. If you feel that you could be Sunset's perfect match, please email us at beourpet@gmail.com to inquire about adopting this gem. Let's make her golden years truly shine! #AdoptDontShop #SeniorDog #ChihuahuaMix #ForeverHomeNeeded #SunsetStreetAdventures

Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 10

Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.

Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.

Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.

We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.

We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.

More about this rescue

Umbrella of Hope exists to rescue, rehibilitate, and rehome animals from shelter situations with a focus on East Contra Costa County, California. Our goal is to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable animals through increased adoptions of those animals already born. Help increase public safety by reducing the number of strays and feral animals through population control who might carry disease or pose other dangers to the community. Provide resources to pet owners to enable them to be responsible forever guardians of their companion animals. To increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals, and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.
