My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Before calling about this dog, please read our adoption requirements at http://gsrne.org/requirements-for-adopting-from-gsrne

Koda is an energetic 1 year old male who’s passions include hikes, long walks, and brain games likes puzzles and nose work. Like many GSDs, he also enjoys toys and balls too. He’s excited to join you on your next adventure.

Koda’s original family had a very sick child forcing them to spend much time at the hospital. This didn’t allow for a lot of the critical socialization a young dog needs. After a spat the other family dog initiated with Koda, the family became concerned that their home would ultimately not be the best place for him and surrendered him to the local ACO. A trainer the ACO often works with agreed to foster Koda, start to train him, and socialize him if GSRNE could help find him a home. After meeting him, we thought this would be a great arrangement for the poor boy in a tough spot.

We are grateful to the trainer who has brought Koda a long way. Koda has overall done well with the other dogs, including the Malinois in the photos, and we think he would do well with a friendly female. He’d be fine as an only dog too. He does need a calm environment so we don’t think he would do well with kids/teens in the home. Koda takes some time to get used to new people, but once he does, he’s a love.

Koda needs a home experienced with the breed willing to continue his socialization and training. We have found him to be a dog with great potential, but he will need a solid commitment from his new owner/family to reach it. The sky’s the limit for this young guy!
