My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Walter! Walter is a total schmoozer. His favorite things to do are eating, snuggling and snoring, and snoring while snuggling his person!! He LOVES to eat and likes to dance around while I'm making his dinner - but he's learning that he has to sit quiet in order to get his bowl of yum (and he's a pretty quick learner!). Even though he's a total foodie he has never taken or snuck food from any of the family...except our other dog... he'll take the food right out of her mouth, so we separate them when they eat.
He is learning about toys and enjoys a good tug of war with his dog sister, although I think his bacon flavored nylabone is his go to.
He has caught on quick to potty training and hardly ever has accidents in the house. He was a little nervous to go in and out for potty but if you talk sweet to him and walk out with him he goes right away and then runs back into the house like a bulldozer (he's gotta get to his favorite chair before anyone else because nap time is like an all day affair for him).
At first, he didn't like his crate and kept breaking out of it. But he's getting the hang of it and goes in willingly (with a treat of course!). The use of carabiners on the doors keep him from sneaking out. I've tried several times leaving him in the living room while l'm gone but he has a propensity for reading (by that I mean he likes to take books of the bookshelf and shred them!!). When left to his own devices he utilizes his total puppy power and within minutes will have every toy, shoe, and book scattered around the room.
He's a little shy about some things - like getting in the car, jumping on the furniture, going outside - but all he needs is a little encouragement.
When he's home with his person he's a total dream dog. He almost never barks, hops when he meets people but doesn't jump on them. He adores the fosters son, ignores the cat, has gotten along with canines of all sizes, doesn't jump on the bed, doesn't beg for food, sleeps during car rides, and will sit calmly by his person all day long if given the chance.

More about this rescue

District 5 Animal Alliance is a non profit 501c3 organization and our main goal is to save dogs off the streets or crowded shelters. Our dogs come from the Detroit municipal shelter and most are bully breeds at risk of euthanasia. We care for our dogs and believe in neuter and spaying to help our over population problem. We give dogs second chances so they can live a long and happy life and bring joy to their family.
