Cami was released to rescue because she has an underbite. It does not affect her health in any way, it is actually adorable, but does not meet "breed standards". Cami is textbook definition of a Cavalier King Charles, sweet, friendly, cuddly. She enjoys watching TV! She also likes looking at herself in the mirror, just look how gorgeous she is!
We like to remind applicants that a new puppy is a lot like a toddler. Cami will need to be supervised, and the best way to do that is to have a dedicated space set up for her. This area will be a part of the home where she can see activity & observe, but it is a place that is puppy proofed. Most importantly for Cami, it is a safe space where she is allowed to "touch" the things around her. She is a very good girl, so far, she hasn't been getting into things she shouldn't. Playpens, 4-squares, or xpens are excellent tools to make this possible. They are easily mobile if you want to move them around, too. But, also...... please read the next paragraph, lol.
We are going to require a physically secure fenced yard. Mostly because she is a Cavalier, and Spaniels are notorious for running, with no recall. Cami is wicked smart; she crawls in & out of xpens at her leisure, so that is not a safe option for outside! Cami is NOT leashed trained (in time she can be trained); she will need secure containment immediately. NEVER EVER should a puppy be left in a yard without supervision. If you have interior stairs, please have a plan to keep your puppy off the stairs unsupervised.
We are working on potty training. It is a process that will require commitment & patience, as puppies have a little puppy bladder. Remember, in a new home, a new environment means that new habits will have to be established.
Bringing home a new puppy is a huge responsibility that requires oodles of time! But it is very rewarding if everyone is invested. Please apply if you meet the requirements & would like to adopt an adorable puppy. Please don’t apply without speaking to your spouse/partner first.
