Nicki is a complicated character. She is the husky of the cat world, constantly screaming at anyone walking by for attention. The issue is- she's only so-so at receiving attention. She was found by a local good Samaritan in a box on the side of the highway so we aren't entirely sure of her past traumas except that she has some. If she were a person, we would highly recommend therapy. Nicki wouldn't let us touch her for the first few months at the shelter. Now, she will let a few people touch her and she will run back and forth while being pet because it's as if she's in her own head with wanting love and being afraid. I think Nicki is going to become an incredible and incredibly affectionate cat, given the right environment. She will probably not let you touch her when meeting her initially but trust us that she will come out of her shell in a home. Sometimes, when we look over at her, she will just be staring back making little micro-biscuits in her bed. She's stinkin adorable.

Soul Dog is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization founded with the mission to spay/neuter and protect animals. We are currently a small group of committed volunteers making a difference in the life of one animal at a time. As an all volunteer administration, all donations made to Soul Dog go directly to improving the health of the pets that share our lives.
Soul Dog is proactive in animal welfare advancing the need for spaying and neutering our pets to reduce overpopulation. We travel to rural communities on Native American reservations, where spaying and neutering will only happen if it is nearly free or very convenient. Soul Dog works with volunteer veterinarians to provide the spaying and neutering service at no cost to the public. Donations are used to defray the costs associated with medications, supplies, and the operating cost for clinics.
